Today

When I arrived here I made friends with a number of other brand new professors in my "cohort" -- people who all came in the same year I did. My best friend from this group got tenure today. She totally deserves it, she's an awesome scholar with a great record. The amount of work, thought, sweat, and tears she put into her tenure case over the past 6 months or so is mind boggling.

It's weird to think that in an alternate universe, it would have also been me getting the news today.
