Dems Leave the State

Wow this gets weirder and weirder! Last night the bill passed the budget finance committee along party lines. It was set to go through the state assembly and the senate today, and the Republicans have the votes to pass it. Our governor said he thinks most people in the state are for this bill, despite the incredible outpouring of protests this week that have made national and now international news. 35 school districts around the state closed schools today.

So the first vote was set for 11 a.m. in the senate and the Democrats left to prevent a quorum! They need 20 for a quorum to vote, and there are 19 Republicans. They just needed one Democrat. All Democrats left! Then the state troopers went out looking for them! And new we just heard that all 14 Democrats and 2 Republicans are out of the state!

The reason they are out of the state is because the Senate has the power to issue a Call of the House, which they have done, which then sends out the state patrol to bring the missing senators back in.

Protests this morning have been even bigger than yesterday! You can't even get into the capitol building anymore.
